Peninsula artists show their work
Nine Peninsula artists will show their work on August 18 and 19 at the Ettalong Beach Memorial Club.
The exhibition was the idea of Bernard Craft, who believed there were not enough exhibiting opportunities for local artists.
He contacted the management of the Ettalong Beach Club who gave support to an unusual project.
The aims of the exhibition were to allow local artists to show their work to the public, to take art into a different arena, and to demonstrate to the local public the wide variety of art forms created on the Peninsula.
"There is a lot of talent on the Central Coast but there is also a touch of conservatism in the approach we see in local exhibitions," said Bernard.
"I wanted to show the variety which is available here, and my selection of works and artists was dictated, not only by the quality and skills of the artists I visited, but by their unique approach," he said.
"If the exhibition is successful, I will be glad to organise another one and it will be open to many more artists."
The exhibition will also act as a fund-raiser for local charities and community groups, with Mr Craft donating a painting, Hats Off, for a raffle.
All the artists will attend on Friday evening and will be glad to talk about their work.
The artists attending are: Bernard Craft, watercolour, pen and ink; Robert Dufield, photographs; Meredith Gilmore, watercolours, pastels; Jennifer Mangold Weine, silk works; Yvonne Mapstone, sculpture; Sabine Parge, textile works; Patrick Ruffat, oils; Garry Taylor, illustrations; Clark Wilson-Little, oils, watercolours.
The exhibition will be opened by television identity Jeannie Little who will have a show at the Ettalong Beach Club the same night.
The exhibition opens August 11 at 5.30pm for guests and 7.30pm for the public. The exhibition will be open all day on August 19.
