Bogus collector calls

Central Coast Health has asked Peninsula residents to be on the lookout for a bogus charity collector.

"A person door-knocking in the Umina area is purporting to be collecting donations for Gosford Hospital Oncology Children's Foundation," according to the service's assistant executive officer Mr Ian Eather.

"Central Coast Health does not have people door-knocking for donations.

"Anyone who is approached for donations should make sure that they are authorised collectors for the particular charity concerned and that they issue proper official receipts before handing over any money."

Mr Eather said the bogus collector was a woman around 30 years of age. She wore a badge and did not issue receipts, despite requests by people giving donations.

Anyone approached by the person is asked to contact Woy Woy Police on 4341 9122 or to dial 000.
