Dance students busy

Dance students at Umina High School are experiencing busy times.

Year 11 student Kristy Stephen has been selected to perform in the Sydney Olympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies in September.

She has a hectic time ahead of her with many rehearsals and a need to keep many details secret about the ceremonies.

Alex Tsambos in Year 7 and Sherridan Coghlin in Year 10 are currently performing in the Central Coast Ensemble and will dance in the Local Dance Festival and Dance Week in September.

These girls, including Kristy, will devote many personal hours in coming months to improving their performances.

Year 9/10 dance students are also busy rehearsing; for their part in the Torch Relay Ceremony at Northpower Stadium on August 28 involving 2500 dancers in various sequences.

The lunch-time dance group, led and choreographed by Year 11 students Erin Glynn, Kristie Smee and Tamara Johnson, is also active. This group involves students from Years 7-11, preparing items for the school’s annual "Showtime" performance.

Also, several Year 10 students plan to audition for the Hunter Performing Arts High in the near future.
