Chamber celebrates oyster festival success
The Peninsula Chamber of Commerce has celebrated "the huge success" of its Brisbane Water Oyster Festival held at Lions Park Reserve on Sunday, November 10.
Peninsula Chamber of Commerce President Matthew Wales said 20,000 people had attended the 24th Oyster Festival.
"We were once again amazed at the huge level of community support for this iconic event", he said.
"Even after 24 years, they came in their thousands to experience the fun and entertainment including our famous Sydney Rock oysters.
"Over 4000 dozen oysters were consumed, all being supplied by Whittens Organic Oysters, Hawkesbury River Oyster Shed, Davo's Seafoods and Westray.
"The famous How Many Oysters Can You Eat in 30 Seconds drew a big loyal crowd.
"The record this year was 25 oysters", Mr Wales said.
"Our community is truly fortunate to have some wonderful outdoor venues such as Lions Park that are able to cater for big events like the Brisbane Water Oyster Festival.
"Full credit to Central Coast Council for sprucing up the reserve prior to the event and showcasing our wonderful foreshores and waterways," he said.
"We hope to bring the Brisbane Water Oyster Festival to our local community once again next November for our 25th anniversary."
