Local authors wanted for book launch program
Local authors are wanted for the the Words on the Waves Book Launch program.
Applications are open until Tuesday, December 10.
"The purpose of the Local Author Book Launch Program is to shine a spotlight on local talent, connecting new writers with readers," said program organiser Ms Angela Bennetts. "This program runs before, during and after the main writers' festival, and successful authors are matched with one or two other authors for joint launches to maximise buzz and capture a wider audience."
To be eligible, the book must have been published in 2024.
Authors will be required to "gather at least 20 people to attend", have social media accounts to promote the event and have print copies of their book available for sale by May next year.
There is a $250 fee to be part of the program.
The festival will run from Wednesday, May 28, to Sunday, June 1, next year.
"Since launching in 2022, the book launch program has grown from three events to seven, now including 12 local authors with nearly 500 in attendance and over 160 books sold."
Originally based on the Peninsula, it is now run at venues across the region.
