Writers' festival author talk sessions announced
The fifth annual Words on the Waves Writers Festival will be held from Wednesday, May 28, to Sunday, June 1.
The program has been released for the festival's "low-cost, high-impact" author talks in the Peninsula Recreation Precinct on Saturday, May 31, its free Family Fun Day on Sunday June 1 and for free book launches.
Sessions of around 45 minutes at The Dip Festival Marquee in the Recreation Precinct on the Saturday will vary in cost from $3.50 to $18.50, with one session costing $28.50 including booking fee.
Sessions include Central Coast Reads with Jane Caro, The State of Australia Today with Hugh Mackay, The Bunny Club with Blanche d'Alpuget, Australia's 'Most Hated Woman' with Quentin McDermott, Live Your Best Life and Save Money Too with Lottie Dalziel, Can MDMA Cure You? with Rebecca Huntley, Broken Brains with Rosie Waterland, An evening with Kate Grenville, and an inaugural Ebb and Flow Poetry Slam.
On the Sunday, the marquee will be the venue of the Free Family Fun Day with a range of events for children and teens from 9am-2pm.
The Dip will be located in the Peninsula Recreation Precinct, off Sydney Ave, Umina.
This year four books will be launched on the Peninsula.
Juno Gemes will launch Until Justice Comes: Fifty Years of the Movement for Indigenous Rights from 4pm to 5pm on Saturday, May 31, at The Dip Festival Marquee.
Outback Jess Day will launch Spotto books and Tenille Dowe will launch Being and Belonging from 9:30am to 10:10am on Sunday, June , also at the marquee.
Toby Davidson will launch The Grand Reopening from 5.30pm to 7pm on Thursday, June 5, at Upstairs Wines Ettalong.
The cost of an adult ticket for the festival is $160.
