Talk about climate change impacts on biodiversity
An associate professor from the University of Western Sydney will speak on "Climate Change Impacts on Australian Biodiversity" at a public meeting at the Peninsula Community Centre in Woy Woy at 6:30pm on Wednesday, April 30.
Associate Professor Rachael Gallagher is a plant ecologist studying the plants of Australia and how they are responding to climate change.
She will describe the pressures on our forests, how species are moving in response to the warming and how their survival will be impacted.
She will be joined by Central Coast climate educator Mr Richard Weller in the sixth forum of a series, organised by the Community Environment Network across the Central Coast.
Mr Weller will discuss the current situation, increasing weather extremes, and what policies we need to achieve the Paris goals.
"Governments around the world have failed to stop greenhouse gas concentrations rising," he said.
He will describe the policies proposed by the Parties and what is needed to get back on track.
The forum will include panel discussion and question time about risks on the Coast and the way forward with options for those wanting to take action.
Further information and bookings are available on the Community Environment Network website at cen.org.au/events.
