Triples final played at Umina Beach

Umina Beach Women's Bowling Club played its Ladies Triples final on Sunday, April 13.

Pat Neal, Lyn Kennedy and Leila Gilmour defeated Natasha McDowall, Cheryl Catchpool and Lauren Ford in a closely fought match.

"It was played in great conditions and was interesting to watch," said club website editor Ms Lesley Swales.

"We had seven entries for this event."

In the semi-finals, Natasha McDowall, Cheryl Catchpool and Lauren Ford defeated Judy Brown, Lynette Hodder and Susan Craske in a close game, with only one shot the difference.

In the other semi-final, Jean Boardman, Lynette Kennedy and Leila Gilmour defeated Kerry Yates, Barbara Schultz, Cheryl Ryan in another close game.

"The final was played in ideal conditions," said Ms Swales.

"Both teams started off well, the lead changing throughout.

"However Leila's team forged ahead three-quarters of the way through but Lauren's team fought back and in the end lost by only three shots."
