Easter raffle raises $2000 for food pantries
More than $2000 has been raised in the Easter raffle run by the Deepwater branch of the Older Women's Network.
The raffle was run at Deepwater Plaza on Wednesday and Thursday, April 9 and 10.
It was drawn by Member for Gosford Ms. Liesl Tesch in her offices in Woy Woy at 12pm on Monday, April 14, in the presence of branch committee members.
Ms Tesch rang the winners herself to congratulate them.
The proceeds will be donated to Mary Mac's Place food pantry, Woy Woy Community Food Pantry at the Seventh day Adventist Church in Blackwall Rd and Community SOS food pantry as well as for petrol vouchers for Meals-on-Wheels volunteers.
Deepwater branch secretary Ms Jennifer Brown said: "Our first prize was a huge box of boxed chocolates, Easter eggs, a soft toy bunny and pralines.
"Second prize was a large basket of tinned and boxed chocolate, Easter eggs, a soft toy bunny and pralines.
"All chocolate in these two prizes was donated by our branch members."
She said third prize was donated by a West Gosford confectionary business.

Ms Brown said: "The Older Women's Network, Deepwater Woy Woy advocates for the rights, dignity and well-being of older women in the community.
"The Deepwater branch has grown to 45 members who enjoy social lunches, coffee mornings and meetings often with a guest speaker to help them live their best lives.
"Our next function will be our Autumn-Winter Fashion Parade on Saturday, May 17, at the Ettalong 50+ Leisure and Learning Centre on the corner of Broken Bay and Karingi Rds at 2pm."
