Tesch welcomes reduction in teacher vacancies

Member for Gosford Ms Liesl Tesch has welcomed data showing a reduction in the number of teacher vacancies.

"In the Gosford electorate, vacancies dropped by 64 per cent," she said.

"As a former school teacher, I understand first-hand the amazing influence that teachers have on children's lives.

"Having a qualified teacher at the front of every classroom is vital to delivering improved academic outcomes for students.

"We want teachers to return to the front of our classrooms doing what they do best.

"We know there's more to do, but this is a fantastic announcement that shows that the work the Labor Government is doing is working."

She said that state-wide there was a 40 per cent reduction in vacancies since the same time in 2023 before the Labor Government came into office and the lowest number of vacancies at the start of a school year since 2021.
