Bushfire extinguished near 'Umina Point'
Pearl Beach Brigade and The Bays Rural Fire Brigade were called to a bushfire on Mt Ettalong Rd near Umina Point on the evening of Monday, February 17.
Pearl Beach crews responded in both their Cat 1 Heavy Wildfire Tanker and their Cat 9 Light Wildfire Tanker.
"We arrived at the Umina Point hairpin, finding our colleagues from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 340 Umina already at work containing the bushfire which had spread from the rock shelf up to the pedestrian path between Umina and Pearl Beach," said brigade captain Mr Lindsay Boyd.
"Our crew joined the Fire and Rescue crews deploying an additional hose to ensure the fire was completely extinguished to eliminate the risk of re-ignition in the gusty conditions.
"Crews left the scene around 10:30pm."
Anyone with information about this fire was asked to contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
