Christmas lights to continue after fundraising success

Booker Bay resident Ms Shirley Crockett is already planning to run a Christmas lights display at the end of this year.

The annual display held at her home in Booker Bay Rd raises money for Vision Australia.

She said the display this December raised $3260.40 for the organisation.

Ms Crockett said she accepted donations from people visiting the garden.

They made "generous contributions" and showed respect and kindness during their visits, she said.

Ms Crockett held the display with the help of family and friends, despite the death of her husband Noel in October.

"Noel wanted the lights to continue for the community especially the children that come along, some now adults bringing their own children.

"Noel built all the houses and characters in the Christmas display and I painted them all.

"We made a good team."

Ms Crockett said they had held a Christmas lights display for 25 years.

"We have been raising money for Vision Australia since 2015."
