Rugby preparation 'best in years'
Woy Woy Rugby Club president Mr Phil Burgess has described preparation for the coming season as "the best in years".
"In training, we are seeing close to 50 players at seniors' training," he said.
"With teams able to run against teams, the season looks bright.
"There are still some more places left for some new and returning players.
"This is going to be a fun season, one you don't want to miss.
"We are still looking for some more women players to strengthen our squad further.
"Especially would like to hear from CrossFit athletes, or anyone who would love to play, whether 17 or over 40."
Mr Burgess said the junior sides were also filling out and currently the club was in the top couple of clubs for having the most registered juniors on the Coast.
Free fitness and skills days will be held for players aged six to 18 at Woy Woy campus of Brisbane Water Secondary College from 5pm to 5:45pm on Mondays in March.
"They will be led by our Woy Woy director of rugby, Stu Formston, senior players and any junior coaches who would like to be part of the training."
Mr Burgess said the club had recruited a number of overseas players.
"We are loving having onboard Oliver Barlow from England and Federico Azzali from Italy at the club.
"Both players have fitted in well at training, and we are excited for both of them.
"They join Emma who landed on the Peninsula this week from England, and is already being called Posh Emma in training, as she is our second Emma.
"We are still looking for a couple more rooms for two overseas players for six months."
