Funding program for sporting groups
Member for Peats, Ms Marie Andrews, has reminded not-for-profit sport and recreation groups to apply for grants in one of the NSW Government's most important funding programs.
Applications are open until August 15 for the Capital Assistance Program (CAP).
These grants aim to assist not-for-profit sport and recreational groups as well as local councils to build sport and recreational facilities in their area.
"Sporting and recreational activities play such an important role in building safer and more supportive communities.
"The NSW Government is proud to be able to support organisations that are committed to creating healthier and more active members of society.
"The program can fund important sport and recreation facilities like playgrounds, skate parks and flood lights.
"Under the CAP, funding is available for up to half of the project cost.
"The value of voluntary labour and donated materials from the community are allowed as part of the applicant's contribution", Ms Andrews said.
The average grant in recent years has been about $9000 per applicant.
"I urge any interested applicants to contact my office, the Department of Sport and Recreation or local councils."
Applications are also available through www.dsr.nsw.gov.au
