Singles champion retains his title

Current Umina Beach Men's Bowling Club Singles Champion Greg Shirley has retained his title, with a back-to-back Major Singles win in the final played on Sunday, November 17.

The final was played between Greg Shirley and Grant Watson, who had only played five games in two years.

"Despite Grant's sensational semi-final win, he played against an 'on-fire' Greg in the final," said club secretary Mr Peter Springett.

"Greg got into the lead and just kept going.

"It was a sensational back to back major singles win by Greg, well marked by Steve Stead."

Mr Springett said it was an achievement for Grant to make the final of the club's premier event after a long time out of the game.
