Parliament visit to write 'letters for democracy'
Nine students from Year 7 and 8 at Umina campus of Brisbane Water Secondary College visited State Parliament in Sydney on Wednesday, November 20.
They participated in a writing workshop to write "letters for democracy" run by the NSW Parliament, Story Factory and the University of NSW.
"Their mission was to use their voice to affect positive change in society," said Umina campus principal Ms Kerrie Thomas.
"Students developed their persuasive writing in personal letters hand delivered to the Secretary for Education or posted to the local council."
Member for Gosford Ms Liesl Tesch briefly joined the group.
"These students demonstrated great capability in democratic communication."
