Novice canoe crew wins gold
Central Coast Outrigger Canoe Club novice crew won gold at the Mollymook Regatta on Saturday, October 26.
"A fantastic result for our newer club members," said club president Ms Cath Day.
"They've trained hard with the help of our club coaches, and it's been great to see them develop."
The thriving club entered four crews of men and women in the novice, short and long courses, racing against clubs from across NSW.
"The day before the regatta, the weather was wild," said steerer John Iliffe.
Gusty winds and a three-metre swell on race day made for "exhilarating" conditions.
Men's long course crew member Murray Burrows enjoyed the weekend: "A memorable experience. Bring on the next regatta."
The club trains regularly from Woy Woy and Patonga.
