Lions club donates sun cream dispensers to surf clubs
Woy Woy Peninsula Lions Club have donated two sun cream dispenser, for use by Umina Surf Life Saving Club and Ocean Beach Surf Life Saving Club.
The units automatically dispense sun cream to anyone who requires it at the beach.
"The units are supported by the Cancer Council and have proved to be highly successful at several locations in Sydney," said Lions club secretary Mr Greg Head.
"The two surf clubs will maintain units which are battery operated and can be located wherever they can best help their members and the general public.
"There are also QR Codes and mobile phone numbers on the units for anyone wanting to know more about Lions, both locally and world wide."
The units cost about $4000 each.
"With a 50 per cent grant from Australian Lions Foundation, we could afford to purchase the two units at the same time," said Mr Head.
Mr Head said that Lions club members attending, along with himself, were club president Mr Rob Osmond, Mr Ian Taylor, Mr Bob Willis, Mr Tony Griffiths, Ms Lin Griffiths and Ms Faye Austin, as well as Australian Lions Foundation chairman Mr Ken Hallam.
At Umina Surf Life Saving Club, committee members Mr Rick Boylan and Mr Mike Begg received the dispenser.
At Ocean Beach, it was received by patrol members Ms Amanda Lawer, Mr Jamie Cairns, Mr Shane Oakes and Director of Lifesaving Mr Jordan Smith.
