Mural project gains backing of Rotary club

A mural project in Ettalong has gained the backing of the Rotary Club of Brisbane Water.

"Our club donated $300 towards the project and money is being sought from local merchants to extend the work," said club secretary Ms Di Bartok.

"Ettalong Village is looking a little brighter after local artist Deborah Anne Johnson painted the mural on the wall that leads to the post office in Ocean View Rd."

Ms Bartok said community activist Ms Shery Stinton, who runs the I Love Ettalong Beach Facebook page, drove the project.

"After getting permission from the wall's owners, Shery was able to put the call-out to mural artists to do the job."

Ms Stinton said: "I felt Ettalong village needed a bit of colour.

"She has done a great job. There have been so many positive comments.

"There is nothing like a colourful mural to brighten up a shopping area."

Pictured are artist Deborah Anne Johnson and her assistant Sam with the mural.
