Second highest daily rainfall in six months

The Peninsula has had its second highest daily rainfall in more than six months, with 19.7mm being recorded on Saturday morning, October 28.

A higher daily total of 36.7mm was recorded on August 6, following a total of 33.9mm on April 14 and 37.6 on April 3, according to figures supplied by Mr Jim Morrison of Umina.

Otherwise, no falls greater than 19.7mm have been recorded since April 3.

The next highest daily totals in that time were 17.0mm on August 14 and 12.9mm on April 30.

All other daily totals have been less than 10mm.

The total for October to Saturday morning was 54.2mm, 31 per cent below the 19-year average of 79mm for the month.

A total of 618.6mm has been recorded to date this year, 45 per cent below the average total at the end of October of 1134mm.

The average annual rainfall is 1321mm.
