First half year rainfall on track to be lowest in 19 years

The Peninsula will need another 15mm this week if it is to avoid recording the lowest rainfall in 19 years for the first half of the year.

Year-to-date rainfall last Friday was 439.6mm, with only 19.7mm recorded so far for the month, according to figures supplied last Friday by Mr Jim Morrison.

The month's rainfall is the second lowest in 19 years, with only last year recording a lower total for June of 12.6mm.

Another 33mm would be required this week to exceed the next lowest total of 52.1mm for June in 2021.

Three months this year have had totals that are among the three lowest for their month.

Last month was also in the lowest quartile with only 23.3mm recorded.
