Cycle group holds two rides from Woy Woy this week
The Central Coast Bicycle Users Group will hold two rides from Woy Woy this week as part of its Tour de Central Coast series.
The group will hold a Brisbane Water Loop ride on Thursday, June 29, starting at 8am at Fishermen's Wharf
The ride is expected to take three hours, graded as medium with an average pace of 19-22kph.
"It is a relaxed-paced ride around Brisbane Waters, starting and ending at Woy Woy," said rider leader Mr Alan Corven.
"This ride is perfect for those stepping up from easier rides, like the group's Woy Woy to Gosford Boomerang ride or other easy and easy-medium graded rides.
"Mostly on road shoulders and shared paths, with some normal traffic roads, you need to be comfortable cycling on the road with some passing traffic.
"Ride pace will be slower on the shared path sections, picking up on the road sections."
The ride distance is 47 kilometres, with an altitude gain of 370 metres in "a few short hills".
The group will hold a Woy Woy to Gosford ride from 8am on Saturday, July 1.
The easy two-hour ride from Fishermen's Wharf will be along the shared path to Gosford and back, a distance of about 25 kilometres in total, according to ride leader Mr Corven.
"Opt-out is possible at Gosford waterfront, about one kilometre to Gosford station, for a 10-kilometre shorter ride."
The group is expected to stop for coffee after the ride.
Riders for both rides are asked to arrive at least five minutes before the start time to meet and sign on.
