Picturesque view of 'Lake Umina'

Umina Boardriders have taken to calling this picturesque view of Ocean Beach "Lake Umina".

Halfway into the year, the club has not been able to run a competition.

"Mother Nature has not been on our side this year," the would-be organisers said.

"We have had a terrible time trying to get a comp on.

"We have been cursed with no waves on a Sunday this year."

Calling off the competition on Sunday, June 18, they said: "It's dead flat now and only getting smaller."

The committee has decided to book Tudibaring as a back-up beach for the July, September and November competitions on the second and third weekend of the months.

This is scheduled around the scheduled Macs Own Boardriders competitions which are in August and October.

The club agreed at the start of the year not to have a back up beach this year, but "this is (now) our best option to try and get comps on".

"We will be aiming to run second and third Sunday of each month in July, August, September, October and November either at Umina or Tudi."
