Rotary club supports 'leading humanitarian'
The Rotary Club of Brisbane Water has announced it is supporting the Graca Machel Trust while Dame Graca Machel is in Australia.
"Dame Graca Machel is one of the world's leading humanitarians and political activists," said club president Ms Cherie Simpson.
"She has spent decades fighting for the rights of marginalised communities, earning international recognition.
"In 2010 she established the Graca Machel Trust, an African advocacy organisation focused on women's economic empowerment, child health and education.
"She is also the only woman in modern history to have served as the First Lady of two countries, alongside Samora Machel and Nelson Mandela."
