Eric was stand-in wordsmith
Ettalong writer Eric Shackle has written about Australian words which have become part of the English language in a US-based email newsletter.
A retired journalist, Mr Shackle acted as guest columnist for US wordsmith Anu Garg's global newsletter "A Word A Day" for a week, standing in for Anu who was visiting India where he was born.
Some of the words Eric contributed included furphy, wowser, yabber, dinkum and fossick.
Mr Shackle said the free daily newsletter was read by more than half a million word lovers in 210 countries and was available at http://wordsmith.org.
