Two questions on aquatic centre

The Peninsula News earlier this year reported on three items from the council agenda for January 28, relating to the Peninsula Regional Aquatic Centre.

CS 004 Indicated that tenders were to be called.

CS 005 Formally appointed the architects for the project.

These architects had been involved in the project since August 2000.

CS 009 appointed quantity surveyors to provide a bill of quantities to help define the project for tender purposes.

These quantity surveyors had been providing the Council with cost details for the project for two years to date.

In view of the actions taken on January 28, and taking into account the closing of our own existing complex on March 28, and its subsequent destruction, I believe the council must answer two questions:

Why, on October 14, does the proposed site look like a World War One battleground?

Does the proposed centre have a completion date, other than never?
