Relocation recommended instead of demolition
Gosford Council's heritage committee has suggested the relocation of a heritage-listed house in Woy Woy, as an alternative to its demolition.
The committee that the house at 144 Railway St, Woy Woy, which was subject of a development application adjoined another heritage house at 146 Railway St.
The committee recommended that "the applicant be requested to consider the option of advertising the dwelling on the property for relocation" and "that archival recording be undertaken".
"The committee expresses its concern about the degradation of the heritage of the first housing development in the Brisbane Water District," the committee report stated.
"The two houses were originally part of a group of similar cottages and the demolition of the house will destroy the remaining historical streetscape.
"The committee notes that there is a current consent on the property."
The committee had no objection to a development application at 53 Wagstaffe Ave, Wagstaffe, for a proposed house adjoining another "heritage item", the Wagstaffe Memorial Hall,
