Proposal to formalise walking trails
Moves are being made to formalise public access to the walking trails from Wagstaffe to Box Head in Bouddi National Park and from Killcare to Wagstaffe and Lobster Beach.
Currently, the track passes over private land and is reliant on the agreement of five property owners, according to Mrs Jeannette Thiering of the Killcare Wagstaffe Trust.
One owner Mr Graeme Anderson had suggested that the trail could become a right of way, covered by a legal agreement, she said.
She said National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) staff were supportive of the proposal and would maintain the walking trail.
They were preparing a submission to go the Minister for Environment, Mr Bob Debus.
A community appeal is expected to be launched to contribute to the legal costs, estimated at about $4000.
