Demountables to be air-conditioned

Almost $250,000 will be spent to install air conditioning in demountable classrooms at schools on the Peninsula over the next two years.

Member for Peats Ms Marie Andrews said schools to benefit in her area included for Brisbane Water Secondary College Umina ($30,644) and Woy Woy campuses ($7661) and public schools at Ettalong ($53, 627), Umina ($76,610), Woy Woy ($61,288) and Woy Woy South ($15,322).

"The Government is fulfilling its commitment to ensure all demountable classrooms are air conditioned by the end of 2004-2005," she said.

"During the first year of the two-year program, 51 schools across the Central Coast will share in $2,159,972 in funding to air condition 256 classrooms, 17 specialist learning spaces and 12 libraries.

"The majority of the classrooms are due to be air conditioned in time for the start of the Term One next year."
