Surf clubs get funds

Umina and Ocean Beach Surf Clubs have received their annual donations from Gosford Council

Mayor Cr Chris Holstein presented $5000 to each club in a ceremony in the Council offices in Gosford.

Since 1994, Gosford Council has provided the annual donation to the clubs.

The council also donates $10,000 to the Surf Life Saving Association of the Central Coast.

"These donations are intended to offset the substantial costs of providing surf education programs and the continuation of the club's general life saving services to the Gosford City community," said Cr Holstein.

"Council is most appreciative of the valuable service provided by surf life saving volunteers and the association.

"It's hoped the donations continue to encourage clubs and the association to strive to even greater levels of service in the future."
