Umina third in Surf Masters
Umina Surf Life Saving Club competed in their Branch Masters which was held at Copacabana on Saturday, February 3.
Umina SLSC came third overall behind Wamberal, followed by Avoca.
Umina came first in the 160 years boat race, with a crew of Mick Coffey, Brian Paul, John Giddy, Allan Gibbons and Phil Welch.
For the 150 years surf team, Umina won again with Sid Sydall, Bill Heber and Bill Cook.
A gallant second place was achieved by Rod Hulls, Gary Mathews and Kelly Glew in the 110 years board relay.
Bill Heber and Bill Cook teamed up with Bruce Doyle to show their skill in coming first in the 150 years.
For the 110 years, there was a close second by Kelly Glew, Peter Tattersall and Gary Mathews
The Taplin Relay saw Rod Hulls, Kelly Glew and Gary Mathews come second for the 110 years team.
Also in second place was the 130 years team of Bill Cook, Peter Tattersall and Gary Mensforth.
In the Double Ski, the 30-34 years team of Peter Tattersall and Gary Mathews came a third, with Kelly Glew and Alan Gibbons doing one better in coming second for the 40-44 years group
Kelly Glew was placed second in the 40-44 years Single Ski with Alan Gibbons with third.
The 30-34 years Board Race, Joanne Nugym showed how good she was. While Rod Hulls came third in the 35-39 years and Bill Heber came first in the 60-64 years group.
The Swim race for women in the 35-39 years saw Karen Paull come third.
Bill Cook filled second place in the Men's 50-54 years, with Sid Sydell third.
For the men in the 60-64 years bracket, Bill Heber showed why he was good enough to come first.
In the Rescue Tube for women in the 40-44 years age group, Brigitt Parmeter reached a second place.
For the 50-54 years for men, Sid Sydall came first, just ahead of Bill Cook.
In Board Rescue 35-39 Years, Rod Hulls and Gary Mensforth came third.
In the 50-54 years, Bill Cook and Sid Sydell working well together grabbed first place.
Karen Paull came third in the Iron Women 35-39 Years and Brigitt Parmeter also came third for the 40-44 years group
In the Beach Sprint for men aged 50-54, Bill Cook came third and Bill Heber came first in the 60-64 years for men.
In the Flags competition, men 50-54 years, Bill Cook was second while Bill Heber finished first in the 60-64 years race.
