Congratulations for Seniors winners
Ettalong Beach War Memorial Club has congratulated three club members, Nea Rhodes, Joyce Davis and Horace Young, who were recently honoured in the Commonwealth Recognition Awards for Senior Australians.
They were among 10 recipients of awards, which were implemented to recognise the significant contributions that Seniors continue to make to their local communities.
Nea Rhodes has been at the forefront of the Woy Woy Ettalong Hardy's Bay RSL Women's Auxiliary for many years, according to the club's newsletter.
After joining in 1976, she held the positions of vice president, secretary, committee member and minute secretary.
Nea joined the Brisbane Water RSL Women's Auxiliary Welfare Group in 1978 and has been secretary for the past 21 years.
Joyce Davis has been the president of the Ettalong Beach War Widows Club for the past three years.
Mrs Davis has written many local histories, including a 50-year history of Ettalong Beach.
The newsletter described Horace Young as a distinguished war veteran who served as president, secretary and patron of Woy Woy Ettalong Hardy's Bay RSL Sub Branch.
He was awarded the Queen's Jubilee Medal for public service and remains heavily involved in returned service activities, the newsletter said.
