Heritage Office offers help

The NSW Heritage Office has offered Gosford Council guidance on the preservation of cottages at Dark Corner in Patonga.

Council's environmental heritage committee has reported that the Heritage Office appreciated the efforts of council to retain the cottages.

The office suggested council obtain a detailed heritage assessment and management plan from an independent heritage consultant., to assist the establishment of the best future management of the cottages and surrounding area.

The committee recommended public use of the cottages as they became available since they occupied a reserve for public recreation.

It suggested the cottages be used as an adjunct to council's caravan park at Patonga.

Some of the cottages were privately occupied under a lease.
