Club scotches rumours

Woy Woy Bowling Club's secretary-manager, Mr Warwick Smith, said he would like to nip in the bud any false rumours that may circulate about the future of the club after renovations are completed.

"Rumours are club-killers," he said in the club's newsletter, News without Bias.

"This year will see our club completing an ambitious renovation program that will see our members and guests enjoying a fresh, modern facility.

"To try and put a hold on all the rumours, please note that we will incur a large debt of $1.25 million from St George Bank that will be used to lease large assets such as the new Glycol Beer system, upgrade of security and so forth.

"The success of the club's program will now, always has and always will depend on the support of our members.

"There have been no discussions on the raising of fees and we are not being taken over by Panthers, Parramatta or anyone else.

"The bank is happy with our ability to repay the debt," he said.
