Awards go to bowls members

Two members of Everglades Men's Bowls Club have been awarded the Australian Sports Medal - Ray Mason and John Yaklis.

Ray was nominated for his years of service to the club, no doubt supported by his years as a player with South Sydney Rugby League and his continuing loyalty to that club.

He remembers his playing days with a passion and still supports the club in the fight to retain a place in the NRL.

John received his nomination from the Central Coast District Bowls Association who recognised his years of service to bowls.

His bowls administration career started in 1962 with the old NSW Leagues Bowling Club and progressed in many other posts to this day.

John retired as Secretary of the zone last year but retains his Royal NSW Bowls Association connection as returning officer.
