Young champions invited to afternoon tea

Six young sports people, aged 12 to 18, from the Peninsula have received up to $750 to help cover their costs of competing at state, national, or international sporting events.

Member for Robertson Dr Gordon Reid hosted these local grant recipients for an afternoon tea in his office last month.

"It is a great pleasure to host local sporting champions in my office and hear all about their sporting endeavours", Dr Reid said.

"These sporting champions are all phenomenal and I congratulate them on their achievements", Dr Reid said.

Those attending included Declan Moore of Booker Bay who received funding to play water polo in the Australian Youth Championships and Holly Parker of Umina who received support to take part in the World Archery Oceania Championships.

Casher Darwin and India Darwin of Umina received support to take part in the Australian Open and Australian Youth Surf Life Saving Championships respectively.

Lily James of Pearl Beach also received support to participate in the Australian Surf Lifesaving Titles.
