Bridge club seeks 'new blood with new ideas'
Brisbane Water Bridge Club is "looking for some new blood with new ideas" ahead of its annual general meeting at 11am on Monday, September 11.
The club has provided a list of committee roles because "many of the current committee members would like to have a sit back and relax for a while".
The president is described as being the face of the club and chairing committee meetings.
This includes liaising with the other clubs on the Central Coast and managing the business of the committee meetings.
The vice-president's role is described as: "A great learning opportunity to see what's happening without having to do much."
The secretary's role is described as taking "a lot of work but there are people who will help you".
"You receive and answer all correspondence, take calls from members, prepare the agenda for the committee meeting and take minutes of those meetings."
The treasurer is described as having "a much easier task with the introduction of the EFTPOS machine".
"You receive all the money electronically, pay the bills, prepare a monthly statement for the monthly meeting and an annual statement for the auditor and the AGM."
Committee members are described as being "responsible for the regular running of the club".
"You would be surprised at the little and big things that come up from time to time.
"This is your chance to be at the cutting edge of this decision-making process."
As well as committee positions, there were a range of volunteer opportunities at the club.
