Project officer to talk at Woy Woy
My name is Katherine and I am the environmental project officer at Gosford Council.
I am working with Tricia Donnelly, the environmental education officer, on a project with the Council and she has given me the opportunity to take her monthly talk with the Woy Woy Environment Centre on April 24.
I am planning a presentation about World Environment Day, June 5.
My talk will give some historical background about the day, and information on what is happening all over the world this year, as well as the main themes that will be focussed on this year - the international year of freshwater.
I will then be giving some suggestions and tips on how to organise your own activity for the day in your local area.
It doesn't have to be a big event, even just a barbecue with people from your community to raise awareness.
People who are interested in doing something but don't have a lot of time may still be interested in coming along to find out more.
I am aiming for the talk to be quite interactive, with my talking balanced equally with games and activities.
It will go for about 30 to 40 minutes with discussion afterwards.
Also there will be free afternoon tea if that's an incentive.
