Students visit art show

Year 11 and 12 students from Brisbane Water Secondary College Woy Woy Campus travelled to Sydney with teachers Mr Jones and Mrs Matthews on Friday, March 7, to view Art Express.

This exhibition highlights successful practical submissions for the HSC Visual Arts.

Students were treated to a range of artworks produced by students last year, and many came away buzzing with ideas for their own submissions.

"The Yellow House" after-school art class has begun with a small but loyal following.

The Yellow House is named after an original concept from the post impressionist artist Van Gough who sought to establish a meeting place for artists to work.

The concept was adopted by a group of Australian artists in the 1970s who included Brett Whiteley, Martin Sharp and Greg Weight.

Each Thursday afternoon from 3pm - 4.30pm, students gather to try out new ideas in a supportive learning environment.

Everyone is welcome at the Yellow House, art room 2.
