College competes in surf league

Brisbane Water Secondary College participated in the School Surf League Competition at Terrigal Beach on March 27.

This was the first event of it's kind and was well presented by Central Coast High Schools and some schools as far away as Kurri Kurri.

The format for the day involved mainly male and female team events, similar to those featured in the Surf League competition that is shown on television.

Brisbane Water Secondary College went well overall, finishing in fourth place.

This was the first time many of the students had competed in surf on craft.

It was a great team effort by the students.

Special mention was made of Daniel Marsh who came home with five medals and to Ashlee Langford and Mariel Fietz who contested about every race.

Holly Johnstone won second in the flags and fourth on the board.

James Pettit and Phill Gillespie swam well on the day.

Tim Hardwood put in a great performance on the sand.

David Laing, John Peake and Adam Matchett went well in both individual and team events.
