Baseball at Rogers Park

Brisbane Water Secondary College Umina Campus' boys baseball team played Cherrybrook Technology High at Rogers Park recently.

Team coach Rob Harwood said: "After our success last year with a team of mainly year 12 and 11 students, this year is going to be one of teambuilding with youth and enthusiasm - the keys for the future.

"Most of this year's team are cricket players with great skills, but are a bit light on baseball knowledge.

"We started well with a double to Joel Weekes as our lead off batter, and a great triple to Scott Stephen who brought Joel home for our first run.

"Unfortunately the batting was lacking consistency from then and we finally went down to Cherrybrook 14-1.

"Shane Smith and Jarrod McClintock took some excellent fly catches in the outfield.

"The infield of Luke, Joel, Hayden and Nathan made an excellent double play."
