War museum leads up to Anzac Day
The Woy Woy-Ettalong-Hardy's Bay RSL Sub-branch is promoting its museum as Anzac Day approaches.
The museum is dedicated to Australian war memorabilia including the war decorations of John McDonald, a former member of the sixth division AIF who dressed as an Arab in 1939 to escape internment.
Phil "Tommo" Thompson is the museum's curator.
He looks after exhibits such as the Bluey and Curley comic strip display, a German bayonet and Iron Cross Second Class, a Vietnamese artillery night sight, a Boer War bugle, military medals, a tribute to Lone Pine and models of war aircraft which hang from the ceiling.
The museum is open from 9am to 2pm Tuesdays and Thursdays.
