Medical students train here
Two fifth-year medical students from the University of Munich have elected to do 30-day occupational traineeships in Australia and started at Brisbane Waters Private Hospital on August 7.
Chief Executive officer Graham McGuinness said the hospital had been approached and had no hesitation in hosting their visit.
"We are providing Andrea and Michael with accommodation, and have organised an interesting program which will involve them in all aspects of the hospital's services," Mr McGuiness said.
"We are also arranging for them to spend some time with the Ambulance Service as observers, and a couple of days in the Tamworth area to see rural and aboriginal health settings.
"Hopefully their exposure to the Australian hospital and health services will benefit them in their future medical services."
Mr McGuiness said it had also been a great opportunity for the staff of the hospital to learn more of Germany and its health system, and many are taking the opportunity to extend their hospitality to the students throughout their stay.
