Former councillor dies

Former Gosford councillor, Mr Bill Hecker, died in Brisbane Water Private Hospital, Woy Woy earlier this month.

He was 78 years-old.

Mr Hecker suffered a heart attack while undergoing a minor operation.

He served two terms on Gosford Council between 1977 and 1983 and was deputy mayor for one of those terms.

Mr Hecker was involved with a number of community groups such as Rotary and was a foundation member of Gosford Lions Club.

He also helped establish the Central Coast Tourist Association and the Central Coast Motels Association.

In 1960, he and his wife, Anna, bought the Gosford Motor Inn after migrating from Holland in 1951.

Anna died in October last year and they are survived by their son Paul, daughter Rosalind and four grandchildren.
