Certificates for school workers

Members of the Peninsula school community were presented with certificates of appreciation at a ceremony at The Entrance High School on July 31.

Certificates were given to 21 people for their work for Peninsula schools.

Those awarded were nominated by their schools and could include teaching staff, administration staff, cleaners, students and community members.

Certificates were presented by Department of Education and Training deputy director-general Dr Terry Burke and Central Coast District superintendent Mr Bill Low.

Peninsula recipients included:

Ettalong Public School - Virginia Glenn, Celine Laflear, Ann Murray and Cheryl Petzler.

Umina Public School - Karen Gibbs, Bryan Reid and Karen Wilson.

Woy Woy Public School - Marea McGinley and Jane Pierce.

Woy Woy South Public School - Chris Dick, Keith Dick, George Boni and Myra Gilroy.

Umina High School - Warren Eames, Karen McDonald, Jackie Mitchell and Cecile Smart.

The reaasons given for the Umina High awards were:

Warren Eames - for an outstanding contribution to the development and success of agricultural programs since the early days of Umina HS. The program has been recognised amongst the best in the state.

Karen McDonald - for the wonderful job she does as a teacher's aide and mentor to numerous students, being a major factor in the success some students experience because of her involvement.

Jackie Mitchell-for her excellent contribution to the efficient organisation of the school office especially in relation to student enrolments and reporting.

Cecile Smart - for her outstanding school leadership and continued efforts to lift student and staff morale and outcomes.

Woy Woy High School - Joyce Bradney, Helen Maitland, Sue Waterson and Barbara Willingham.

The reasons given for the Woy Woy High awards were:

Joyce Bradney - Tirelessly energetic and dynamic in organising the annual Model Train Exhibition over the past five years. Always a loyal supporter of the school.

Sue Waterson - Outstanding commitment and loyalty to the school and public education, serving as P&C President and correspondence secretary, cheerfully volunteering to lend a hand whenever she can.

Helen Maitland - Enthusiastic commitment to being exceptionally professional and efficient in the front office completing the enormous tasks of our Weekly Newsletter and Semester Reports. A tireless worker.

Barbara Willingham - Long-serving and well-loved teacher-librarian who has demonstrated exceptional loyalty, commitment and enthusiasm as Year Adviser, SRC Co-ordinator and school librarian. Unforgettable!
