Hospital volunteer finds herself a patient
I have worked as a volunteer at the Gosford and Woy Woy public hospitals for over 30 years.
In November last year, for the first time in my 90 years, I found myself a patient.
After a long illness and consequently a long period of time in Gosford Hospital and in Brisbane Water Private Hospital (rehabilitation), I am now home and extremely grateful - grateful that I have a loving, caring family network and grateful for the outstanding care from the nursing staff across both hospitals.
We often underestimate the tireless, hard work, care and compassion that goes into looking after patients by our treasured nursing staff and physiotherapists who got me walking again.
I would also like to say "thanks" to the catering-kitchen staff as the food was fabulous.
Thanks also to my many friends who followed my journey.
"How fortunate am I."
