Older women to hold second Easter raffle

Woy Woy's Older Women's Network Deepwater branch will hold its second Easter raffle on Wednesday and Thursday, April 9 and 10.

"All funds raised will go to our three local food pantries," said branch secretary Ms Jennifer Brown.

Tickets would be sold at Deepwater Plaza outside Kmart, she said.

"The raffle will be drawn by Member for Gosford Ms Liesl Tesch in her offices at midday on Monday, April 14, after which all winners will be notified and their prizes delivered before Good Friday, April 18."

First prize was a large box containing several boxes of quality chocolate and traditional Easter Eggs, Ms Brown said.

"The second prize is a large basket containing tins and boxes of quality chocolate.

"The third prize was donated by the Chocolate Factory in West Gosford."

The beneficiaries will include Mary Mac's Place, Woy Woy Community Food Pantry run out of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Woy Woy and Community SOS which is located in the Yaringaa building at the Peninsula Community Centre.

Ms Brown said: "We also support Meals-on-Wheels with funds to provide petrol vouchers to their volunteers who deliver the meals and give the recipients some social interaction.

"Recently we have added Hope and Meals Dinner at 6pm every Friday, which is a community dinner for all in our local area to attend for free."

The branch also supported the Ettalong 50+ Leisure and Learning Centre which provided seniors activities and hobbies.

Ms Brown said the Older Women's Network advocated for the rights, dignity and wellbeing of older women in the community.

"The Deepwater branch has grown to over 40 members who all enjoy social lunches, coffee mornings and meetings with a guest speaker to help them live their best life."
