Boat licence theory to be taught in Woy Woy

A certified Marine Rescue Boat Licence Theory Course will be held by Marine Rescue Central Coast at its temporary operations centre at the Woy Woy Community Centre from 8:30am on Saturday, April 5.

The theory course will be conducted by trainer and assessor Mr Ian Leafe, and coordinators Mr Bob Gilbody, Mr Paul Broad, Mr and Ms Raymond and Jane Lewis.

The five-hour course will be limited to 10 people.

For a full boat licence, participants will also need to complete the practical handbook.

This requires a minimum of three trips with an experienced skipper, who has held a licence for a minimum of three consecutive years.

Marine Rescue Central Coast is a registered training organisation with members professionally trained to national standards for their roles, both on and off the water.

"Courses are designed to teach you the ins and outs of safe boat handling and help build your confidence in local navigation, boating safety and the marine environment," said Mr Leafe.

The course costs $165 for adults or $145 for a young person aged 12-15 years old with a parent of guardian,

A jet ski licence course is available on the same day, at a cost of $50.

Anyone wishing to undertake both courses will need to enrol separately in two courses.

A $10 deposit is payable on each courses.

More information is available online via http://penne.ws/wKXmUx and http://penne.ws/PKMlnc.

Book online via the Marine Rescue website or phone the base on 4337 9600.
