Greg Shirley is Major Singles champion
Greg Shirley is the Umina Beach Men's Bowling Club's Major Singles champion.
The Major Singles championship final was played in hot, gusty conditions on Saturday afternoon, November 18.
"The final was between two ex-Woy Woy Bowling Club players, Greg Shirley and Andrew (Gus) Kenney, and was always going to be a great draw game," said club secretary Mr Peter Springett.
"The score was pretty even in the early stages, then Greg became more dominant in the second half.
"Greg's continued pressure made it difficult for Gus to claw his way back into the game.
"Gus played unbelievably well to get to the final, considering he doesn't play much bowls."
Mr Springett said that "Gus played his 'final' against George Boni" the previous week.
"Greg played the conditions better on the day and won the coveted Major Singles Championship."
