Students search for solutions to food waste and nutrition
Year Nine students from Brisbane Water Secondary College Umina campus have taken part in the University of Newcastle's 2023 Illuminate Challenge.
Joined by 215 students from 15 other schools on the Central Coast, their task was to come up with a solution to food wastage and nutrition - the second biggest industry on the Central Coast.
"Our students have found issues in the amount of waste from production and packaging and are working as a team to develop a solution for small local businesses," said campus principal Ms Kerrie Thomas.
"They have been given tasks and deadlines to submit their ideas.
"They have listened to some of the industry's biggest experts and have been mentored by them.
"They also pitched their business solution."
